Hello,

The check engine light illuminating means that your car's computer is registering a fault. To find out what the code means, you will need to connect a diagnostic scan tool to your car's diagnostic port. I purchased a basic model that will read and erase codes (usually all the novice needs to have) at Walmart for about $20.00.
