Not sure where the sound is coming from, but I removed the belt and it went away. After checking the tension pulley which were fine, I put the belt back on and the noise resumed. So it is doing it under load. The harmonic balance does however have cracks and looks to be separated in certain areas.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

Can you describe the sound? Also, when the belt was off, did you spin all belt driven accessories as well as check for excessive play in the pulleys to possible locate the noise source?

Let me know. Also, let me know if there is anything that makes the noise louder or softer.

Take care,
Joe

Hey thanks, yeah I replaced the tension-er and pulleys and put belt back still making noise. It is like a intermittent grinding scraping noise in lower part of engine where accessories are.

Welcome back:

Remove the belt and check each accessory for excessive play. Also, spin each one and see if you can duplicate the sound. That should help you locate the problem.

Let me know what you find.
