Hi,
If you hear a gurgling sound, either it is boiling or it's low. Make sure the level is full again. I need you to fill it and then allow the engine to run until it reaches operating temp. Once it does, allow it to cool and recheck the level. If it's low, refill it again. You may simply be low in the radiator and the reservoir isn't filling it completely.
Next, if there are no leaks and it continues to get low, then we could have a head gasket issue. Have you noticed any white smoke from the exhaust or a creamy substance in the motor oil?
Take a look through this link and see if anything mirrors what you see in your vehicle:

One last thought. If you are concerned that it could be low on coolant while you are driving, see if the heater works. If the heater doesn't produce heat, chances are you are low.

Let me know. Also, let me know what size 4 cylinder it is and if it is turbocharged.
Take care,
Joe
