Yes, I took the spark plugs out of my car and 4 out of the 6 where oily. I have a lot of miles and not a lot of cash and want to keep my car. What would you recommend for me to keep my vehicle going? I am using a synthetic oil royal purple 5- 30 I think, and have motor craft spark plugs.

Hi,

In all honesty, if rings are worn there isn't a lot that can be done other than an overhaul. How much oil is it burning? Have you checked engine compression to see if it is exceptionally low?

Let me know. Also, let me know how much oil it's burning, does it only happen at specific times?

I haven't checked the engine compression, and I put maybe a 1/4 cup every three days oil in.

Hi,

Take a look through this link. It explains the most common causes of burning oil. Let me know if it helps. If it doesn't, we need to do more testing.

LOL. I do mine every 2,000 miles. Everyone thinks I'm crazy. Honestly, if you have no blue smoke, are you sure there are no leaks? If it still had converters, I've seen them hide blue smoke. But that is only when they use a really small amount. Otherwise, it shows up.

Interestingly, most manufacturer's consider a quart of oil used in 1,500 miles normal. Do you fall into that range?

Yes, I have been having oil coming our behind the crankshaft and I just noticed a leak where the drain plug is and a little leak right behind the drain plug where that plastic circle piece is on the pan.

Chances are those are the cause. Is it possible for you to take a few pics of the leaks and upload them for me to see? That way I may be able to make some suggestions.

Let me know.
