The engine all of a sudden list power it down shifted really hard, then would idle high. I had to flutter the pedal to keep it running, with the pedal to the floor in neutral at so light then back to flutter the pedal just to get it home.

Hi,

The high idle leads me to think an engine vacuum leak exists, but that doesn't explain the hard shift.

Do me a favor. Let's start by testing to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes. This vehicle has an OBD1 system and doesn't require a scanner to retrieve codes. All you will need is a short jumper wire or even a paper clip.

Follow the directions in the following link and let me know what you find.

Let me know the results.

Take care,

Joe
