Oxygen Sensor Location

Using the diagnostic emission code reader, I can the bank 1 sensor 1 error. I replaced the sensor and cleared the computer and the light came back on with the bank 1 sensor 1 error. There are two sensors closed together and not sure if I replaced the correct one upstream or not. They are close to each other. P0030 OBD-II Trouble Code: HO2S Heater Control Circuit (Bank 1 Sensor 1). What I will do since I kept the original sensor I replaced is clean it up a little and put it back and use the sensor I originally purchased for Bank 1 Sensor 1 into the correct area. Thanks for the information. I obviously got confused with the location. Do you have a diagram? Thanks, Mark

You sent me a link awhile back but it never got bookmarked correctly. I need a diagram on the location of 02 Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 1 that I need to examine and or replace.

Not sure, all I read is maybe disconnect alternator but do not remove it and use a rope or mechanics wire and attach it to keep it from falling.

I have a code reset device that clears the check engine light and I replaced the bank 1 sensor 1, but the light came back on. How many sensors are there and the location? My birthday is coming up and in our state and county we have to get echecked.

There are four, left front, right front, left rear and right rear. Depending on which code you have these are also the locations. Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Code is P0051. HO2S II needs to be replaced.
Can you tell me how to physically reach the electrical connector at the end of this sensor? From underneath the car it appears to go up above the alternator. I can't see where the connector is; not from underneath, not through the passenger side wheel well and not from the top of the engine compartment. Any thoughts on what must be removed to access this connector?

Bank 1 means where number 1 cylinder is. Sensor 1 is the O2 sensor upstream from the cat not after the cat.

First why are you replacing the o2 sensor second which one is it the upstream or downstream third there are several different types DO NOT INSTALL A NON OE O2 SENSOR! They sell universal sensors these sensors I do not recommend in any car they will only cause more problems you need to buy this part from the dealer to ensure proper functionallity

The check engine light has come on. Diagnosis reports the O2 sensor needs replacement. I feel that I can replace the proper O2 sensor, once found, without paying $500 and be able to pass the new emissions test

Mazda MPV 2003, 42,000 miles. My "check engine" light came on. I had it checked and was told I would need a new oxygen sensor which would cost almost $300. Is this a reasonable price for this repair or am I getting totally ripped off? :Roll: This is a great site and I'd be happy to donate after I know the answer I get is what I need. THANKS!

Depends if its just the O2 sensor or if its a wiring harness problem with the O2 sensor. But its should take no more then 30mins to replace on average, and hte part is usually no more then 100 bucks. Some are no more then 50 bucks dependent on car. It is by no means a job you could not do yourself. I myself have never charged over 200 for changing more then 1 O2 sensor, you could easily do it yourself and save money, id say that guy may be a bit overpriced, but I live in the UP, repair is a bit cheaper.
