There are several things that can cause that light to come on, from a failing throttle position sensor to a transmission fault. The first step would be to get a scan tool and pull the codes that will be in the computer. Those will give a direction as to where to test next. Just keep in mind that the codes very seldom mean "change part A" instead they will point out what the computer is having a problem with. Could it be a bad part? Yes. But it could also mean that the plug connecting the part to the harness is corroded or the wiring has a problem. Once you have the codes many parts stores will do a free scan, and then proceed to tell you "part A is the problem", just write down Eevery code and post it here. That will give a starting point.
