The 2009 Ford Taurus is not flex fuel, So if you decide to burn it out, Here is what will happen , The vehicle powertrain management can not handle it, What makes a flex fuel so different is all flex fuel vehicles has a fuel composition sensor which you do not have, So if you decide to use it you will have no power, yes the check engine light will appear as lean banks , Here is what will happen on the engine management side, The fuel trim pulse width injector will increase, The knock sensor will retard the timing, So no power on the streets. You can use this fuel it is suppose to be the future fuel. Who can not use this fuel is carburetor cars, And vehicle that require 92 octane. And by the way where did you purchase this fuel? And I call this the big lie fuel supply.

came on, had it checked, mechanic did code scan, no codes came up, just said random misfire at start up plus a few other things , he changed the two gaskets and plugs. I drove it for about two weeks and the light came on again. I checked again and same thing, random misfire. He suggest that i change wires, i thought i would also change coil pack and I have not done it yet. I read a couple time on the web from mechanics/ person that the two reasons for random misfire is 1) bad fuel and 2) vacuum leak. I am sure it has nothing to do with bad fuel.

The best way to look for a vacuum leak is have a smoke test performed did they do one of those on it?

I have to collect information i am not there helping people fix their car over the internet is very challenging. All I have to rely on is what information you give me. Most of the time I have to ask questions beyond what information is given. You would hook up the smoke machine hose to the hose that goes to the brake booster. Make sure you block off the throttle body before you start smoking it. I cannot tell you the problem with the information I have so far. Bad fuel can cause a random misfire have seen that before. Also I do not know what the last guy found what exactly he did to fix it etc. So again the need for all the questions. You could have a vacuum leak that could be a lot of different places so that is the need for a smoke test. Also you could have a egr valve that could be sticking partially open. I am here to help people with their car problems. Giving my free time to help people in need.

It is the big round black part on the drivers side mounted to the firewall with the one large vacuum line going to it.

Okay, I found it, that one hose leads to a small square box along with three other hoses and one of those hoses does lead to the air cleaner tube that goes to the throttle body. should i hook up to that one?

I wish I had a picture of that, you want one that leads directly into the intake manifold..

Hook it to that big hose that goes right behind your throttle body.

another question; i need something that smokes to put in the glass jar. i found a product that you use outside that you light and it just smokes, but it has a citrus smell to it. Do you think that would be a problem if i use it? it is a round green coil that is use to help keep insect at bay or should i just use a charcoal bis that you get hot place cardboard around it and it smokes.

Can you post a picture of your smoke machine? I used a old metal paint sprayer.With a glow plug on the bottom and I use unscented mineral oil from a feed and tack store. I pressurize the machine with a asthma nubulizer machine. Put the inlet and outlet nipples on the top of the paint cup. It works really good.

I first tried a fogger machine, bad idea did not work out so well. As far as what your talking about I would not go those routes. That is why I asked to see a picture of what your building.

On this one, you hook up a small portable tire pump to it (on side of jar) and it blows smoke up. did you have random misfire when you did the smoke thing and if so did you find a leak? The mechanic suggested i change the wires as they are original, do think they can go bad and also the coil pack?

I am a professional service tech I worked for Saturn for over sixteen year. Ii am a factory trained Saturn tech factory trained GM ev1 electric car trained tech and a VW trained tech. Currently i am in charge of the used car department at a VW dealer. So just a short background on myself since you asked. I built my on smoke machine since there $700.00 and up to buy one .That is too much for something I can build. I took the money and put it towards a professional scan tool instead. I have used it to find vacuum leaks exhaust leaks and evaporator leaks so far. So does it miss fire at idle or going down the road under a load?

To answer your question the mineral oil smokes it works the same way the one on the tool truck works. Are you using the pump fill car tires with? If so that is way too much pressure you only use very little pressure.

okay, yes, but it is a small portable one and takes awhile to air a tire up, so i am thinking it is less powerful then a large portable one or the type you use at a gas station. you just notice it at idle and even then it is not all the time. When the mechanic hooked his scanner up to it (second time) the car was running and he pointed out that it is not doing it all the time. I do not notice any problems when i drive it. the only thing i noticed a couple of times is when you put foot on gas peddle to go it seemed like the motor went engine went back then went. I do not know how else to describe it.

The pump your using is too much pressure. You could damage gaskets parts etc You only use like a fish pump that runs a bubble rock in a fish tank. If it is only really during idle. It is not the wires when they go bad they miss typically under load. If there the original wires it would not be a bad thing to change them.

No I have a 1980's Chevrolet diesel Blazer glow plug that makes the mineral oil smokes.You do not light anything on fire. Also even if I was there with the car I would have to look at things and do tests like a smoke test scan tool readings looking for miss fires etc. Like I said before helping to fix cars over the internet is challenging to say the least.

I have a 06 Taurus SE, 3.0L 12v, Engine Code U. 40K miles. Bought at 27K miles. A few days ago, I drove 3 miles to a store, turned off the engine and this happened.

It will start, but the engine vibrates and sputters like misfire. Engine light is one. Hit on the gas and the engine is not running faster or responding. The car would not go either. There is also dark smoke coming out of the tail pipe.

This car has a history of hard cold start. I had to try 2-4 times to start the engine in the morning. Meanwhile, I had to hit on the gas pedal hard while cranking the engine. I have got 9 codes:

* P0190: Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction, or Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor "A" Circuit

* P0191: Fuel Rail Pressure Circuit Range/Performance, or Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance

* P2196: O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich Bank 1 Sensor 1

* P2198: O2 Sensor Signal Biased/Stuck Rich Bank 2 Sensor 1

* P0190(pd): Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Malfunction

* P0191(pd): Fuel Rail Pressure Circuit Range/Performance

* P0300(pd): Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected

* P2196(pd): Undefined code

* P2198(pd): Undefined code

Any idea what could cause the problem? How to find out which part to replace? Thanks a lot

Check for vacuum leak
And check PCV valve and its hose

Check engine light on
1st step should be to check for codes
Most local repair and part stors can help you in getting the codes
You can list what you have for codes for more help
