Okay, so I found out today my drum brakes are rusty but my brake shoes are good. I was thinking out taking to the drum brakes off and clean off the rust and repaint them until I I thought about can I just replace the drum brake itself with changing the brake shoes?

Hey feller!

Yes, drums can be replaced without replacing the other components.

Depending on how long things have set idle and rusted up, you might pay attention to the wheel cylinders and the other things too. Sometimes seals lose their "seal" if they have not moved in a long time.

Here's just one guide from our "Repair Guides" at the top right of our pages that might aid you:

Let us know how it works out.
