Key will not lock or unlock either door. Key starts car and opens trunk. Power door locks are working fine. Sudden onset in both doors at the same time.

Hello,

This is controlled by the BCM and a fuse. Here is the wiring diagrams for the system so you can see how it works and a guide to help you test the fuse:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-a-car-fuse

If the fuse is good it sounds like the BCM is out. I would try a used one but you may need to get it programmed to the car.

Here is the location. Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

Thank you for the schematics! I checked and everything looks good. To clarify, the power door switches are working fine, as is the manual door lock on the inside of the car. It is the key tumblers. They both stopped working simultaneously. Just went out one morning and I could not open either door. I had to unlock the trunk and go through the back seat in order to unlock the door with the power door lock button.

Lol, that is a good one. It sounds like the BCM is shorting out holding the door locks down or you have a shorted door lock actuator. I would remove the both door panels and unplug the lock actuators to see if the system comes back to life minus the door lock operation.

Here is a guide to help you see what you are in for when removing the door panels:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/door-panel-removal

Here is how it will be for your car.

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

Opened up the door and found a broken door lock pawl. Replaced it and all is well. Cannot for the life of me figure how they got broken in both doors at the exact same time, but thank you for your assistance.

Someone might have tried to break in using a slim jim. Look for marks on the windows.
