This is a fairly simple straight-forward repair, ... If you have the right tools. You'll need to split the lower ball joint from the spindle and use a long pry bar to lower the control arm. The half shaft can be removed then to gain access to the seal. It will take your mechanic about an hour and a half to do the repair if the car is on a hoist.
If you aren't familiar with taking brake and suspension components apart, it is safer to let the professionals do the work. They will know how to disassemble it so it's not necessary to have it aligned afterward.
