Unplug the two-wire coolant temperature sensor to put it into base timing mode. The radiator fan should turn on. Timing marks are on the torque converter. There's a foam rubber plug on top of the bell housing that must be removed. Turn the distributor to adjust the timing.
The Check Engine light will be on during the procedure. When you're done, reconnect the coolant sensor. The fan will turn off. If the Check Engine light doesn't turn off, it will the next time you start the engine.
