Engine Performance problem
1994 Dodge Shadow 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

My 1994 Doge Shadow if I am on the hyway it really tryes to get up to speed. It can go 35mph in town. If I push the accelerator to the floor it doesn't act like it wants to go at all. I have replaced the fuel filter. Since I bought it we had a fuel leak that comes out of the back of the fuel tank. We only fill it about 1/2-3/4 of the way. What could be my problem that will not cost me much? I am a single mother.

If I had to guess, I would say the engine isn't getting the fuel it needs. If you are leaking gas, you need to remove the fuel tank and locate the problem. Does it leak worse when the engine is running? Also, have you tried checking fuel pressure? It is something you can do yourself. Here is a "How To" video. Check it out.

The gauge can be rented from many parts stores or purchased from the test equipment site on this page.

Let me know what you find.
