Dodge Ram V8 Two Wheel Drive Automatic 110000 miles

My 2000 Ram 3500 is a van conversion. Yesterday the engine light came on. I bought this vehicle used and don't have a service manual. Van still seems to run OK, all gauges normal--had it serviced by a Dodge dealer about 1000 miles ago.

When I start the van cold, the engine will rev up and down until it warms up some, then the rpm's will stabilize. This problem is worse when the weather is cold

I noticed yesterday that, when idling, the van moves jerkily (not smoothly) in either drive or reverse. It had not done that previously.

Check engine light:

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on

Thanks much for the suggestion. I went to auto-zone and they said the light indicated a sparkplug. I think that would explain the other symptoms I've noticed.
