First, make sure the cap lock clips are removed, I think on original joints they are on the inside section of the yolk, use a screwdriver and hammer and tap them out, Then to install the new joint, place a new cap inot one of the holes, put the joint into the cap, and tap in with a hammer and socket, install the lock, then install the opposing cap, slide the joint partially towards the cap and tap in with the hammer and socket, install clip, Repeat this for the other two caps!
The other possibilty is GM joints use a glue, I know you have a dodge, but they may use it, if so heat them with a torch and they will tap out with a hammer and socket.
