Got a spark plug broken off in engine, the outer part is still in there( the threaded part) and a heat sheild is in the way, how do I remove the heat sheild and is it possible to get the plug remains out without removing the head? Cannot afford a shop bill, got to go at it alone. Any help would be a holliday gift. Thanks to all.

I have clamped vise grips on them and used a hammer hitting the vise grips to drive them upward and out. Or you can(key the banjo music) beat them in on the open seam with a hammer and a screwdriver/ chisel. Kinda roll them in on themself. It's a real pain, spray the crap out of them with some PB blaster/ WD-40 to help losen. With the engine in the vehicle, the second choice is going to be the one for you. Can't get a good hit on the vise grips with the exhaust manifolds in the way? I took all mine off awhile back, they seem like they trap more dirt and debri than there worth. I have stainless headers, and good heavy wires, and have had no problems without them! As far as the rest of the plug? Needle nose pliers if the nut part of the plug is gone then your going to have fun. Good luck!
