I ran out of gas, put 1 gal in and it wouldn't turn over, put another gal in and same thing. After 3rd time called AAA and they put in 3 more gal. Still wouldn't start, towed to diesel mechanic. Diagnosed it as needing new fuel injector pump. They said they got it started at one point but it wouldn't stay started. My question is, is it possible they didn't bleed the fuel line or put fuel int the fuel filter before trying to start it? Would it be wise to bleed the line myself and put fuel in the filter before paying for a new pump?

I would bleed the line change filter that inj. Pump isnt cheap if you dont feel confident with the mechanic working on your truck, cant hurt to try the little things, keep in mind its never a good thing to run a diesel out of fuel.
