While driving my truck, I smelled something like an electrical burning smell briefly. Soon after my transmission would not shift into third or fourth gear on its own. I changed the atf and filter. I did not find any shavings or anything wrong with the transmission. Is there a sensor that could have burned out?

There should be a fault code stored if thats the case, autozone will read the codes free, post the codes here.

The smell may be a clue, check all the wiring to and from the transmission including connectors looking for a possible wiring issue. Should check the codes to see what is in there to help narrow down the source.

That transmission requires the atf+4 fluid NOT dextron.
