When I try to start the engine it just turns over and doesn't start. Checked the fuel rail for gas and it has plenty of gas and can hear the fuel puimp start when turning the key on. Almost like its not getting spark. Have changed out plugs and wires but just don't know if getting spark to start.

Hello, are there any codes? Did you visually check for spark at the plugs? If you do a lot of testing with the vehicle cranking, you might disable the fuel system.

Don't have method of checking codes on this vehicle. I understand you can do via speedometer on the newer digital styles. Do have Check Engine light on a few days back, but also had ABS light come on indicating bad sensor. Wasn't sure they were related, didn't think so. Have not checked spark at plugs. If no spark what would be the next thing to check?

You should be able to get codes by cycling the ignition switch, you turn the key till the dash lites come on, no further, you cycle the key, on--off, on--off, on, then the mil starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes.

With the engine cranking, you can check primary voltage to the coil and injectors.

I had neighbor tell me it was the timing chain? The engine cranks very smooth with no missing and the truck was running smooth when it was shut off. Can't believe it would be the timing chain?

I f the cranking rpms are higher than normal, it could be because there is no compression?
