How about some details? Does it move with the linkage disconnected? If not, take it back to the shop that rebuilt the transmission.

Yes it does with linkage disconnected. Does not go thru the drive range selection. Have to guess what drive range I am in.

Now wait a minute. You replaced the transmission, which has a part called the "manual lever" and it's not working. Obviously there's a problem inside the new transmission.

Guessing which gear you're in implies the manual lever in the transmission is working just fine, but the indicator in the instrument cluster is not working. That's an entirely different problem. The cable for the shift indicator is connected to an arm under the steering column. Next to the arm is a 9/64" allen screw you turn to adjust the position of the indicator. If you can't tell which gear you've selected, (but the transmission is working correctly in all gears), look at the cable for proper operation and adjustment.
