I had to recently fix part of my exhaust system, It was fixed with a 2 inch pipe with 2 clamps on both sides. Now since I got that piece fixed, my car is making a ticking noise when I acclerate and deacclerate. Could this be caused by that pipe and is that safe to drive with that noise

If the exhaust is ticking, it is due to expansion of metal, and is normal, if it's the engine ticking, it's not normal, and should be checked for low oil/pressure.

When I did exhausts full time, I would weld rather than clamp, for this reason! It isn't anything to worry about, but the different metals are expanding and contracting at different rates, this causes a tinny clinking type sound. If you want to stop it, replace the whole pipe.

Ok thanks. I just just wondering if it was dangerous to drive. There's nobody around my area that will weld for me, so ill probably have to replace the whole system

but thank you

It could be they left some part of the exhaust rubbing on something too! If you can get under it, and on a cold system bang up on the muffler and pipes, if it's rubbing somewhere, try to loosen one of the clamps, they are usually 1/2 or 9/16ths, you need a deep socket for clamps, the twist up or down and re test. When the noise is gone tighten clamp.

The guy that put the clamps on said that the more he tightened it up the louder the noise got, personally I have no clue how to work on stuff like that nor do I have the tools. But I can go to a buddies house and try what you suggested up above.

We tried today to fix the noise, and we had no luck. The tighter the clamps got the loudier the noise got. We took the piece off for now. I need to park the car for a while and try to save up for a new exhaust system. I sswear every 5 months there's something new on this car that goes wrong
