I just recently had the air conditioner filled and tested for leaks and it worked fine for the last 2 months. Last week it behaved as if it needed to be filled again - not getting cool, almost as if it were mixing with warm air so to speak. In any event, this morning it worked great. Two noteworthy caveats are that the mechanic said the car must have been in a minor accident before I came to own it because he claims the compressor is missing a bracket that should be attached to it; at the time I had the air conditioner serviced I also had to have the radiator replaced.

I'm more than a little wary of the shop I took it to, as when they installed the radiator they neglected to tighten one of the nuts at the top of the radiator and it was leaking from the get go. I've chalked up a steep bill already with the work done so far and don't really feel totally confident in what they may have to say about this latest problem with the AC.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did they add dye to the system?

I have seen some pretty expensive headaches with intrepids and the a/c systems. Evaporator cores were common and expensive. Have seen a myraid of other leaks in thoses systems.

Every shop makes mistakes, some more often than others. I wouldn't necessarily question their integrity over an oversight. Any tech does not want to have a car that goes out the door compromised, but it happens. A shop environment can be quite hectic and things happen even in the best of them.
