1997 Dodge Intrepid gas smell

1997 Dodge Intrepid 93000 miles

When I start my car it drags a little....then it startes but then a strong gas smell comes from the engine? Once the car is turnrd off for a while the gas smell still remains Strong from the engine!!!!! Help....

First, any fuel leak is potentially dangerous. Have you checked the fuel rails, injectors, fuel line from tank, fuel filter... for leaks? Chances are you will be most likely to see them when the leak is most likely to occurr.
