I have a 1995 Dodge intrepid 3.3L Automatic trans. I have been trying to diagnose/fix my "limping" auto transmission. I have flushed fluid with ATF+4, new filter, replaced both input & output sensors & checked ground cable. I am still having the problem w/ limp mode & it is also slipping pretty badly. The trans fluid & pan magnet had no metal in it so I am thinking/hoping it is a Solenoid or Electronic problem. The car would down shift to 2nd gear as soon as the engine warmed up & the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT would come on @ the same moment. There are only codes 12 & 55. I know 12 is battery was disconnected in last 50 key strokes & 55 is end of readout.
I need the location of the Transmission Relay (only $10 part is worth a try) & the TCM location. Is it possible that I have already repaired the problem, but it is still doing the same thing because the TCM needs to be reprogrammed? Will my TCM go to default if I disconnect the battery for a few hours? Unfortunately, I can't even afford the money I have had to spend on the parts. I had to sell some stuff @ the pawn shop to pay for them, so I can't afford to donate much @ this time. I really need your help. It can be your "good deed" for the day. Thanks in advance for your assistance. God Bless.

Check tranny codes
if the problem was fixed tranny will shift fine
locate TCM on front left side of engine compartment
remove wiring harness (its bolted in to the TCM )
locate tranny solenoid connector
right side of tranny (under passenger side )
and disconnect
check using an ohm meter the harness in between
if all OK
note how in the cavity the connector in shape of perfect O
you need to change that to look like 0
(both end TCM SIDE AND SOLENOID END)
hope you get what I mean
let me know

need manual CHECK IT @

Thank you for the previous answer. It poses a couple new questions from me though. I still don't know where the Tansmission Relay AKA Transmission Spark Relay (Auto Zone part # M-76) is located.
1. Do I replace the connectors @ TCM and Solenoid Input, or is it something I bend into shape to look like 0?
2. How do I test the harness w/ OHM meter & what reading am I looking for? I have never used an OHM meter. I think I have one but I have no instructions & no idea how to test OHMs with it. I am not even sure if it works.

I was 90% certain the Solenoid was inside the trans Case on the left/driver side below the Range Sensor & Output Sensor. Am I wrong?

Solenoid is on the right side (passenger side )
open the hood and try to located by looking under the firewall passenger side

you need to use an ohm meter to check if you have a short in one of the wiring
(( I just went through the whole thing about two weeks on the same car ))
did u get the TCM codes?
Let me try and find the wiring diagram and will send it
