Ensure bolts are torqued properly. Tighten the bolts to 30 ft. Lbs. (40 Nm) on pushrod engines, 40 ft. Lbs. (54 Nm) on the 4.7L engine. Also ensure that the slot in the pipe bracket is bearing against the mounting bolt when installing heater hose pipe. This will hold the pipe in as far as possible to prevent leaks.

Professionals put thread sealer on the two bolts that thread into the water jacket. Some people use RTV sealer, but there are special sealants for these bolts. You'll have to drain the coolant again, but you don't have to take the pump back off.

When you're done, be sure to change the oil. There's a chance coolant could have leaked into the timing chain cover and down into the oil pan. Antifreeze melts the soft metal of the engine bearings. Some coolant probably dripped into the oil pan when you took the old pump off too. An oil change is cheap insurance.
