When my engine light came on I drove to Auto Zone and they did a quick diagnostic check and it showed the AGR valve needed repair/replacement. I purchased this truck used with a little over 30000 miles on it. There is a factory warranty still in effect for 70000 miles coverage. Would this warranty cover the AGR valve work, if that is indeed what is needed?

The 70,000 mile warranty used to be for the drivetrain mechanical stuff, (engine and transmission). All cars had a federally mandated 5 year / 50,000 mile emissions system warranty. As far as I know, that hasn't changed. EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valves would fall under that warranty.

Usually the valve itself doesn't fail. Moisture gets into the amplifier on top of the valve and damages the electronics inside. The amplifier is not available separately. It comes with the new valve but can be easily installed by just unplugging the vacuum hoses. Replacing just the amplifier this way takes about a minute.
