Does a 2003 Dakota have a speedometer cable?
My truck is making a whining noise that increase with speed, then stops once I reach 40 or so. It doesn't make the sound when just idle. I was told it may be the speedometer cable, but I didn't think 2003 had those. Open to any advice! Thanks

No speedo cable. Does noise change when on and off the gas? Does it change when turning left or right?

Yes, it changes pitch with acceleration. Haven't noticed it changing with turning. Brakes are fine. Drive shaft and belts are fine.

I have replace a lot or rear end pinion and side carrier bearings for making the same kind of noise. Best bet is to have a tech road test it for you to know for sure.
