Does a 2003 Dakota have a speedometer cable?
My truck is making a whining noise that increase with speed, then stops once I reach 40 or so. It doesn't make the sound when just idle. I was told it may be the speedometer cable, but I didn't think 2003 had those. Open to any advice!! Thanks

Yes, it changes pitch with acceleration. Haven't noticed it changing with turning. Brakes are fine. Drive shaft and belts are fine.

i have replace a lot or rear end pinion and side carrier bearings for making the same kind of noise. best bet is to have a tech road test it for you to know for sure.
