Hi I have a 99 Dodge Dakota that had an engine rebuild about a year ago due to a blown head gasket. I drove it for that year and the engine blew on me again. I took it to a mechanic and he said there was water in the crankcase. I know that this could mean another blown head gasket but I wanted to know if there was anything else it could be that would cause that. I don't have the money for another rebuild so I'm trying to do this on my own any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, start with having the head crack tested a nd checked for warping& twist, check the old gasket carefully to determine where it has failed, short of stripping the block and getting it X-rayed you will not be able to check for a cracked block, which is very uncommon any way.
