For a while now my truck is smoking alot when idleing. It has a sweet smell coming from exhaust. Does anyone know why? When I accelerate there is a ticking sound thats much louder when I dont warm the vehicle up. Also I think im leaking power steering fluid does that require replacing the punp, how can I check to make sure its power steering fluid I cant tell. You guys here are very helpful thank you for all your help.

What color is the smoke that is coming from the exhaust? Also, as far as the power steering fluid, are you haveing to add fluid on a regular basis? Are you seeing puddles on the ground?

If the smoke is white you have a head gasket leaking. Check to see if you are low on antfreeze. If so ya might want to take it to a shop and get it checked. The ticking sounds like your rockers are not geting oil untill oil reaches them. They have new oil filters that have a silacone flap built in that is to eliminate dry starts. I have found this to help along with a oil stabalizer. The power steering is more than likely the return line or the power steering oil cooler.
