1999 Dodge Dakota computer & spedo

Several times the truck just shuts down, let it set for a little while then it starts I felt the computer under the hood & it was hot. Also the spedo does not work all of the sensors have been checked, they are all good. Any ideas. Tom

When the engine doesn't start, have you been able to check to see if it is getting spark and fuel? Has the check engine light come on? Has the vehicle speed sensor been checked?
