'98 Dodge Dakota truck that runs good and seems fine. When coming to a stop occasionally, the oil pressure gauge drops to zero and the check gauges light comes on. After several seconds the gauge recovers and the light goes off. There are no other noises or signs of no oil pressure. The problem occurs only when stopping regardless of how fast and not every time.

If you are not hearing a knocking or ticking from the engine, chances are the oil sending unit is bad. Try replacing it.
