I changed my drive belt and ended up shorting my alternator heard a electrical motor noise breifly from the top of the engine.
disconnected battery and finished the job
at start up, engine turns over, fires like it will start, release key, engine dies. Instantly
put gas pedal to the floor, it will fire up, but will run so rough and I mean rough. Ease up on gas to lower rpm, still running but reallly rough.
lets gas off. Dies instintly.
what did I do. Did the short kill something?

YES. All wiring is fused to protect itself and your car, so check all the fuses under the hood and in the car before bringing it to an electrical auto repair facility or dealership. Look for burnt wiring and components, replace as necessary. Disconnect battery before servicing. Connect after servicing. Use the negative battery terminal for this. Ok
