i replaced the rear brake pads and now smoke is coming from the back wheels and smells like they are burning

If they are both new and smoking there may be a foreign substance on them or there may be something wrong with your installation, did they go together ok, or tight? The parking brake may be bad, it's self adjusting and needs to be periodically lubricated near the caliper, if you used it and it's sticking that may be it, it may go away.
