Transmission problem
2002 Dodge Caravan 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

What would make my 2002 Dodge Caravan Shift eraticly when taking off. Having to shut off engine to get it to shift right, Runs excellent after you get pas second gear. The check engine lite is on.

If the check engine light is on, take the van to a nationally recognized parts store and have them scan the computer for codes. Most will do it for free so there is no money out of pocket. Chances are there is a problem with a speed sensor or a shift solenoid, but I can't be sure without a code from having it scanned.
