Hi -

I noticed the rear lights (brake, headlights, parking lights) stayed on after I turned off the vehicle and removed the key.

I tapped on the brakes to ensure the brake pad was not "sticking" causing the rear brake lights to be on.

I think turned the headlights on / off with and then without the engine turned on.

I turned key to accessory, then off then this then that.

The only thing that stopped the lights from remaining on was removing the Stop Lamp Fuse (20a) from the fuse control center. This was the only way to stop the lights from remaining on.

I'm a little versed in home electric - and know this probably isn't a good situation - but, we only need to drive this car in Daytime.

I'd like to fix myself. And it seems that there is either a short, a faulty relay etc.

Thoughts - Ideas - Etc? I know taking to a mechanic would be an easy fix.I just lost my job Monday and have a new affinity for fixing things myself. I have been changing my oil for years (and I'm a white collar worker) - nothing like getting your hands a little dirty.

Thanks in advance - any insights on fixes would be appreciated.

I've been out to about 30 websites and there are quite a few "control" modules. Can you at least give me a part number or what specifically to call the part? Is it a "Stop Lamp Integrated Control Module"?

What is your expectations on how much the part will cost (part only - no install)? It seems to be a quick fix. Correct? Or do I have to take apart half the engine.
