Brakes problem
2001 Dodge Caravan

I have owned this van since 2003. Every once in a while, I'll be driving down the road with cruise on and have to brake suddenly, or just want to kick the cruise off, so I brake. The pedal is COMPLETELY stiff and cannot brake right away. This is really frightening but have had new brakes, rotors, etc. Can't find problem. I am not sure if the problem is in the brakes or in the cruise, but it's scary.

Have you checked the brake booster for vacuum leaks as well as the vacuum supply?

That usually describes an ABS Hydraulic control unit problem. That device is located under the car on the frame left side. Check the master cylinder for fluid level. If fluid level is normal, then have the ABS system tested. That is usually one of the symptoms of a faulty ABS system. ABS braking systems need to have the proper bleeding protocol. That could be the other fix.
