My wife was driving her van, and she heard a sound "like I ran something over" She stopped and called me. The van has had serious oil leaks for some time now, and makes a ticking sound if it gets to low. When I got to her, there was a Huge oil puddle under the van, and I deceided to leve it on the side of the road for now. Snow on the ground, I deceided to not crawl under and look to find a problem. Any ideas on what could cause the sudden and immediate loss of what appears to be all of the oil?

Hi there,

you may have actually driven over something and cracked the sump, you will have to investigate this carefully as you will destroy the engine if you run it low on oil. Add some oil. If the sump is damaged you will soon see the problem, check that the sump is not damage from the in side out as this will indicate an internal fault.
