I have a 1997 Dodge Caravan. The car has actually been very good until recently. When I drive the car passed 60 mph the car starts to shake and it kind of fells like I have no control of the vehicle. When I'm driving under that speed the car runs fine. I just had a tune up and a master cylinder put in. I took it to my family mechanic and he told me my fluid was fine and clean. He said it might be my torque converter. Do you have any advice on what it might be? Oh one more thing I had a new fuel pump but in also about 5 months ago.

This isthe kind of problem that needs to be isolated, so there may be many questions asked,

how long has it been since the tires were balanced
how long since anyone has looked at the tires for a broken belt,
lets start there these are pretty obvious things that may cause a generic vibration 60+mph

let us know

It's only been happening for about 3 weeks. It's been awhile since I got my tires balanced. No nobody has checked the belts that I know of. But my mechanic has been working on my brakes on and off for 1 week. I feel it is so strange that it doesn't happen all the time either.

It may be something else, and yes it is strange I always aks the normal questions to make sure it isnt maint related, the converter makes sense but someone really needs to check the car out the right way and give you a real answer, maybe consider taking it to a good trans shop, most wont even charge you to check it out,

let me know what happens if you can
