Transmission problem
1979 Dodge Caravan Front Wheel Drive Automatic

In the morning all was fine, later in day however the van didn't want to go once stopped at a red light. It would take a good while for it to shift once it started off the stop, once it did get up and go, it was fine. Until another stop then we were back to not shiftting gears correctly. Please! Can anyone help me!

First, I need the correct year. Next, have any warning lights come on? Is the ATF full and clean?

Let me know.

If the fluid is clean and full, it sounds like it could be an internal problem with the valve body, or an electrical problem with the trans control module (TCM). The computer will need scanned to see if any trouble codes have been stored.

After thought. Try disconnecting the battery for at least 10 minutes to see if that will reset the TCM.

Let me know what happens.
