I have a 1999 avenger, and it just seemed to loose all power while driving, just like someone just turned off the key. It does crank, but does not want to fire up. I have replaced the distributor, the crank sensor, and the ignition switch. The fuel pump I think is ok, what else could be the problem?

I would recommend checking fuel pump pressure. If you need directions, let me know. Also, have you checked the catalytic converter to determine if it is plugging?

Thanks for your response. Yes, I would like to know how to check for these things to see if that could be my problem. Thank you.

Here are the directions. You will need a fuel pressure gauge. Most parts stores will lend or rent them.

Let me know what you find.

Happened to me before too and it stinks. Try looking at your fuses under the hood by the battery. Check the engine fuse, and if its that replace it, and if it happens again you may want to look into replacing your egr valve. Fuse takes seconds but egr valve may take a couple hours. Let me know what you find out.
