2008 Dodge Avenger engine replacement

I need to replace the engine, and all I need to know is when I pull the engine does it need to come out from the bottom or from the top? Does the transmission need to come out with it? Do I need any special equipment?

Remove the hood and take it out through the top. And no, the trans can stay in the vehicle. There are some situations where it is actually easier to remove the trans too; however, this will work with leaving it in the car.
