I have 1998 doge Avenger, I changed the timing belt and the water pump last year.
Now I have an overheating problem, the car start to over heat after 30 minuets of driving.
I just checked my car today and the mechanic told me that the timing is of and you need to adjust it and it will cost $1000. Please I appreciate any advice.

Thank you

Hi there,

See pic for correct timing belt alignment, $1000.00 is way to much to be doing this, anyway i would be thinking a faulty thermostat or radiator cap or blocked radiator as a first option, i would go get a second opinion on this problem.

Hello

about the thermostat, I just put a new one last week, and I did a complete coolant system flush. Back to the timing belt, any idea how much would it be to adjust the timing.

Thank you

Hi there.

There still will be around 3-5 Hrs to access the timing belt to re adjust if it dose need it, you will have to check local labour rates.
