My 2.2L carburated engine stalls intermittently. It is 25 years old but only has 61000 miles on it. The stalling is without warning, normally when driving either on the highway or an arterial when the vehicle in front of me isn't going as fast as I am. Ie. I would be needing to slow down from 60 to 50. The car restarts within a minute and may take me all the way home (I commute 35 mi. Each way) or may stall again. I changed the fuel filter and the problem went away. For a week. I changed the fuel pump (mechanical). No change. I changed the fuel filter again but no relief. The vehicle has no problem with hills, up or down, straights or curves and gets great mileage. I've checked to be sure the trans is full of fluid and check oil and water every day. I also keep the gas tank at 3/4 or above. Any ideas. Or better, a solution?
