Crankshaft position sensor code because of reluctor wheel loose. I hear very loud clattering at idle (thought it was broken water pump) stalls at low throttle and threw P0336 code so it must be out of place. any recommendations for a shop in Huntington Beach, CA?

Hi Z07,

This would point to an issue with the timing chain however, it may just be a tensioner issue and not the reluctor ring. If you have a lab scope you can trace the pattern of the crank and see if you have good clean square waives. If you do then, the reluctor ring is probably okay and your code is caused by the chain tensioner and allowing the chain to slap the cover.

If you can pinpoint the noise to the timing system then I would go ahead and pull the cover and inspect it. If the chain is slapping the cover then I would think there would be some witness marks. However, you will be able to inspect all the components.

Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks
