When ever it decides, it just cranks. Fuel pressure 66 lbs. 12.86 volts at fuel pump. New fuel inertia switch. Put in spare at second no start to be sure. Sprayed start fluid first time, started. Second time no. Five minutes later fired right up, run ever since. Sprayed in after MAF sensor. More than ten trips three hundred miles runs great. Waiting for a no start to verify spark. Starting out was inertia switch, that was reason for suspecting no fuel. And with either starting it first time. Also, no codes. Also measured starting voltages. 12.88 static, 10 40 cranking, 14 01 running.

Good morning, No to the inertia switch. If it was bad, you would have had no fuel pressure. When you turn the key to the on position without cranking the engine over can you hear the fuel pump run in the tank for 5 seconds?

Please run down this guide and report back. This sounds like a spark issue. Let me get you a diagram for the ignition system. Roy

Okay. Diagrams will be helpful, but there are a lot of possibilities. Can we narrow it down to what usually fails and how to test it. Say, can it be CPS, MAF?

Do you have battery voltage to the connector for the coil?

When you crank it, does the tachometer move up a little?

Good things to check when it happens. The tachometer movement indicates CPS working, correct? Right now problem is, it runs great 300 plus miles and 10 trips. No problem. That is my problem. Cannot depend on it and take wife out on it. May need towed. That is why I was looking for something that may cause it and how to test it. Thank you Roy!

Is there anything else that may be failing, intermittent, that you would check?

If I don't have voltage at coil, where do I check next?

Follow the diagram with the wire I highlighted. Go to the source and check for voltage. I believe it is a common feed from the ignition switch.

Okay on wire. I removed fuel pump relay. Tachometer bounces up and down while cranking.

Can it be the fuel pressure regulator sticking? Pressure does bleed to zero over night. Starts right up, but if it sits for five days, it cranks more to start. I added injector cleaner, so far no change.

Why did you remove the fuel pump relay?

Yes that says the crank sensor is sending a signal.

Most likely the check valve in the pump is the reason for drain back.

I removed to simulate a no start condition. Otherwise it just starts right up. So one down, other than heat. Should I hear up CPS and see if it fails. Ambient temperature was 70 last no start. Had sit for 15 to 20 minutes. Can the pressure reg hanging open like would be at idle cause no start?

Also, dealer says factory alarm will not cause my no start because if it was problem, engine would not crank. True?

Okay, it quit. After doing CPS test and started afterwards, I closed hood. Now won't start. Yeah! I had added a light bulb to where inertia switch plugs in so I could observe cycle. Short light for short pump run when first turn key on. Then lights constant on while running. After closing hood, I get no light, even when started for short time to run fuel out of rail. Measured volts at inertia sw. Get 12.30 momentary on DG/YE power wire. Then it drops to 6.83v. Any ideas?

My light, I used old sw to use plug in so I didn't cut wires. Soldered across contacts.

That voltage comes from the relay.

Okay, now it starts again. Only at inertia sw plug. With meter on, I get 12.5 volts while short light, then hoes to zero. Unlike no start, 6.83. Then running I get 13.65v.
