The van will crank but won't start. The fuel pump's been replaced, and the fuel pump wiring harness has also been replaced. All the fuses are good and everything else.

Hi,

In most cases, a crank no start condition is either the result of a lack of fuel or loss of ignition spark. Did this happen all at once or were you having issues prior to this?

First, take a look through this link and let me know if it helps:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/car-not-running-advanced

Also, I need you to try something. See if the engine will start if you use starting fluid. If it does and then stalls, we know it is a fuel-related issue. If there is no change, we likely have an ignition spark to the plugs issue.

If that is the case, here is a link that explains how to test for spark to the plugs. Try this and let me know the results:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-for-ignition-spark

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Yes, it will crank then shut off. I used starter fluid from what I've been researching I believe it's probably the relay.

Hi,

You can check the relay. Here is a link that explains how it's done. Also, if you find the relay is good as well as related fuses, then we need to check the fuel pump pressure and the fuel injectors.

Let me know if the relay takes care of the issue.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

The fuel filter is integral to the fuel module in the fuel tank. As far as the level sensor is concerned, that won't prevent it from starting.

Have you checked the fuel pressure? If not, here is a link that explains in general how to do it:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

You will need a fuel pressure gauge, but most parts stores will lend one to you.

If you have checked the fuel pressure and it is good, then we need to check if the fuel injectors are getting power from the ASD relay.

If you look at pic 1 below, I highlighted a fuse to check and the relay. When you check the fuse, confirm there is power to and from it. As far as the relay is concerned, switch it with a different one having the same part number. If there isn't one, here is a link explaining how to test it:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-an-electrical-relay-and-wiring-control-circuit

Also, here is a link you may find helpful when testing the fuse:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-an-electrical-relay-and-wiring-control-circuit

Next, if the relay and fuse are both good, turn the key to the run position. At each fuel injector there will be a brown wire with a white tracer. Confirm that color wire is getting power at each injector.

Let me know what you find.

Take care,

joe
