Okay, I have replaced the distributor, plugs, wires, crankshaft position sensor and battery, and get a crank, no start. I can smell fuel and have spark. Help!

Hi,

If you have both spark and fuel, it should run. However, if engine compression is low or timing is off, that can prevent it from starting.

Here is what I really need from you: If you could record it cranking and upload it for me to hear, I will likely be able to tell you if it is a timing or compression issue.

Also, let me know if this happened all at once.

If you are unable to record it cranking for me, then I recommend checking engine compression. Here is a link that explains how it's done:

I realize most people don't own a compression gauge, but most parts stores will lend you one free of charge.

I will watch for your reply.

Take care,

Joe
