Good morning,

The distributor sounds like it was in correctly. You were just on valve overlap when you check the rotor placement. That means number 6 was top dead center compression and number one was top dead center valve overlap.

Put the distributor back to where it was and try it again. I attached the procedure for installing the distributor for you below.

I tried replying don't know if it went through so I'm going to try again. First off thank you for responding so quick. I do have a fsm for several models of Cherokees but either way thank you for the distributor install diagram. I did all that and finally just gave up and had my wife come get me. She acted like she wanted to start but just couldn't do it I hooked a plug light from primary to cap and did the same at number 1 cylinder. They lit up both times so it has spark. I checked fuel by pushing in the Schrader valve and some sprayed out. But as I was shutting the hood I noticed my fuel pump ballast on the driver side fever and broke and fallen apart. I have read that it just pretty much quitens the pump but doubt it will pump fuel as it's not hooked up. I'm going to go back after while and wire the wires together with butt connectors being as it had that ballast should I install a inline fuse there? Once again preciate the early response sir.

Okay, you need to test the fuel pump pressure. A little coming out is no good. It needs to be a lot.

I attached the pressure reading below. You can rent a tester at a parts store.
