I couldn't find anyone for help, so I went on Craigslist. Needless to say, it was a bad idea. His part was tracking down the hoses and wires that were in the way of us getting to the removal of the seal, my part was to call around town for parts. In about 20 minutes We have success. He was very quick with a ratchet. Except for the PPS (Power Steering Pump) sensor, which accidentally broke.
No problem. Because of you, Joe F. I even know where it goes. The craigslist mechanic said to get a new PPS Sensor and to call him back to have it reinstalled. Other than that, he had completed what I'd expected. I gave him $200.00 plus an extra $20.00 for a tip and the quick return trip. And then 3 hours later, I called him. "Great! You already bought it?"
"I'm on my way." (An hour goes by. I text, him. He texts.)
"Sorry Captain. I'm still at the Gym. Lost track of time.)
(Another Hour)
"I'm out the door now. It's a 5-minute install."
Another Hour Goes by. I texted him,
What's the problem? It's almost Midnight! Where are you!"
Is tomorrow better? Not getting the sarcasm, he says
"Thanks Captain, it really would be." FYI. I hate boats.
Next Morning. 8:00am. Same old same old. About every 90 minutes until 2:00pm. Frustrated and tired, I decided to install the sensor myself. I crawled under my car, and I couldn't believe the mess I saw. Connectors to the starter yanked and disconnected, straps for the wiring harness. Unbolted and just hanging. Absolutely Horrible! I text him about a dozen times because his phone is going straight to his full Voice Mail Box. Finally, he answers, "I won't be going back. I feel threatened." And just like that. Blocked. And I'm still furious. Mechanics have bad reputations because of jerks like this Craigslist fool. Any advice Joe F?
