I want to know how to turn a RWD truck into a 4WD or at least for now a FWD.

Good afternoon,

This is a huge project.

You will need a transmission with a transfer case, 2 different driveshafts, cross member, front differential and complete front suspension.

There will be welding required for installation of the front differential.

Why are you attempting this?

This is not an easy conversion but can be done. I will start by saying it would be cheaper and easier to fix the reason for the rear wheel drive not working (assuming that is an issue making you want to convert it). Also, based on the vehicle you have, it would also be cheaper to just purchase a 4WD S-10.

However, you will need these major components. Transfer case, front driveshaft, new front axle and suspension.

Then you will need all the control components including the actuator, switch, electrical connections/wiring. If you have a manual shift transfer case, you will need to cut a hole in the floor and put the shifter through which means you will need to replace the console as well.

I think my opinion would be to search for other alternatives before you take on this project. Let me know if you have questions. Thanks

Chevy uses two completely different frames on 4 wheel drive and 2 wheel drive. 2 wheel drive has front coil springs and 4 wheel drive has torsion bar front springs.
